Why now?

We are a community in need

  • Geneva’s poverty rate is 18.9%, higher than the national average of 13.1%

  • 18.1% of our households cite a language other than English as their primary language

  • 58% of our children qualify for a free or reduced lunch

  • Over 30% of our children are growing up in homes below the poverty rate


According to the Aspen Institute of Play

  • Kids who participate in youth sports score up to 40% higher on tests

  • Kids who participate in sports are 15% more likely to go to college

  • The rate of depression is 10% lower in young athletes

  • Children growing up in poverty are more likely to seek out sports


Our Goals

  1. Increase enrollment in youth sports, particularly lacrosse and soccer by an additional 25% over the next three years.

  2. Provide increased access to field space throughout our spring and summer seasons

  3. Increase enrollment of minority athletes by 30% over the next 3 years, particularly in lacrosse and soccer.

  4. Develop summer box lacrosse and soccer leagues at the youth and adult levels

  5. Create a safe space for our young athletes to practice and develop
